To University Of Miami School Of Law Alumni Board Of Directors

MIAMI ATTORNEYS JERRY M. MARKOWITZ & THOMAS RINGEL
ELECTED TO UNIVERSITY OF
MIAMI SCHOOL OF LAW ALUMNI BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Miami, FL - June 2, 2003 - Attorneys Jerry M. Markowitz and
Thomas Ringel, founding shareholders of the law firm of Markowitz,
Davis, Ringel & Trusty, P.A., have been elected to the
Board of Directors of the University of Miami School of Law
Alumni Association.
Markowitz's practice concentrates in the areas of creditors
and debtor rights, including workouts, bankruptcy, asset recovery,
insolvency, receiverships, reorganizations, restructuring
and mediation. A resident of South Miami, Markowitz is one
of South Florida's leading business and bankruptcy reorganization
law practitioners and is listed in the directory of the Best
Lawyers in America.
A frequent speaker and community leader, Markowitz is a former
President of the Bankruptcy Bar Association for the Southern
District of Florida; a founding member and treasurer of the
Florida Receivers Forum; Past Vice Chair of the Florida Bar
Association Grievance Committee; and a founding sponsor of
the Bankruptcy Bar Foundation of the Southern District of
Florida. His professional affiliations include Chairman and
Co-Chairman, Continuing Legal Education Committee for the
University of Miami Bankruptcy Skills Workshop since 1990
and 2003 Co-Chair of the University of Miami Bankruptcy Bar
Annual CLE Seminar. He received a Bachelor of Science in Business
Administration from the University of Florida's College of
Business and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Miami
School of Law.
Mr. Ringel, a resident of Palmetto Bay, is one of Miami's
foremost real estate attorneys, having performed countless
residential and commercial real estate closings in the Palmetto
Bay, Pinecrest, Kendall, South Miami and Coral Gables areas
over the last 25 years. A frequent lecturer on real property
law, Mr. Ringel has appeared before numerous community organizations
and real estate brokerage boards concerning topics such as
Handling of Complex Real Estate Transactions, Workouts in
the Real Estate Marketplace and Liquidation of the REO Portfolio
in the Banking Industry.
Mr. Ringel is currently the 2003 Co-Chair of the University
of Miami Bankruptcy Bar Annual CLE Seminar and in 2002, he
served as Vice Chairperson of the Palmetto Bay Charter Commission,
Miami-Dade County's newest municipality. His professional
affiliations include admission to the Florida Bar (1976),
United States Supreme Court, United States District Court
for the Southern District of Florida, United States Court
of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and the United States Court
of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. Additionally, Tom is
also a member of the South Miami-Kendall Bar Association.
Mr. Ringel holds a Juris Doctorate degree from the University
of Miami School of Law and he graduated from the University
of Michigan, cum laude, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in
Political Science.
